George Burckhartt  was born on 6 Jun 1725 in Germany.  He married Maria Catherine Miller on 19 Nov 1749 in Lancaster, PA.  Mary was born 19 Dec 1728 in Germany.  George died on 10 Aug 1805 in Fredericktown, Frederick, MD and Mary died  3 Aug 1806. 

The following children were born to this union:

1. Peter Burckhartt born 22 Dec 1751.  He married Margreth Zimmerman

2. George Burckhartt born 3 Jun 1754.(twin)  He married Ann Hobbs

3. Maria "Anna" Burckhartt born 3 Jun 1754.(twin)  She married Francis Mantz.

4. Christopher Frederick Burckhartt born 19 Dec 1756.  He married Elizabeth Hobbs.  He died 14 Oct. 1827.

5. Catherine Burckhartt born 20 Feb 1759.  She married John Dill.

6. Margreta "Peggy" Burckhartt born 10 Jan 1765.  She married Wilhelm Carl Gross

7. Johanis "John" Burckhartt born 10 Jan 1765.  He married Catherine Markell.

8. Phillipine "Phebe" Burckhartt born 29 Oct 1767.  She married Sebastian Schiess.

9. Daniel Burckhartt born 10 Apr 1772.  He married Elisabeth.

George Frederick Burckhartt Sr. and his wife Maria Miller were born in Rhenish, Germany.  Rhenish is the Rheinprovinz (Rhine Province) of former Prussia.  In present Germany, this area can be found in both Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palastine).

He and his family, along with the Millers, came to Pennsylvania on Sept. 25, 1732.  They settled in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and George married Maria there on November 19, 1749.  When he first came from Germany, his name was most likely Georg Burghart.  They moved to the Frederick, MD area.  Maria and George had nine children:  Peter, Maria, George Jr., Catherine, Margareta, Johanis, Philipine, and Daniel.  George Sr. was a soldier in the Revolutionary war.
